Not a photograph as such, more of a scan. This is taken from an amazing book titled The Complete Book of Self-Suffiency which George very kindly lent me quite a while ago now come to think of it, sorry George.

BBC 2 have started running a very inspiring series titled It’s Not Easy Being Green in which him from Scrapheap Challenge bought an old run down farm house in Cornwall, moved his whole family in and is trying to make it as sustainable as possible. This week saw the building of the farmhouse’s water wheel whereby the stream at the bottom of one of the field got diverted and was used to turn a rather large home-made wheel on the side of the garage. I was surprised that a little trickle of water could turn such a large wheel. He plans to rig it up to a generator and power the lights off it.

Whilst on the topic, the planning stage of the sheds little wind generator is finally there, I think I have it worked out. It now involves sitting down with the Mecanno and putting plans into action.
