It was a little over a year in the making but the big day finally arrived on Friday.
The day before, I decided to improve on perfection and cut my hair but due to the mind not on the job managed to cut a huge stip out of the side of my head which was incredibly shorter than usual and made me look like I had escaped from the mental ward. Managed to leg it down to the barbers just in time for them to take sympathy on me and with a continuous look of “this’ll teach him” worked their magic. They say every wedding has at least one disaster, luckily I got mine out the way and done with the day before the big event. If anything it gave me material for my speech.

The nerves didn’t actually effect me until literally the very last minute (though the dream about a helicopter which flew upside down and chopped the head off Fi the night before wasn’t the best calming influence I had experienced), when I turned and saw Fi walking towards me looking absolutely stunning. Wobbly twig legs and sweaty hands for one please. I was determined to make it through the ceremony appearing confident and speaking clearly as I knew I would regret it if I didn’t - I think I managed it alright. From then on the day raced past in a blur as we both began to relax and enjoy the day.

Photograph shamelessly pinched from here
It was fabulous to see so many of our friends and family in one place and we really enjoyed catching up with them all. My only wish was that I could have spent longer with them but we were on a tight schedule and there was plenty of eating, drinking and barn dancing to be done.
The speeches were well received though I very nearly didn’t make it through to the end of mine without breaking down. Of course it was all scripted to suck the audience in you understand mmm. The meal was fantastic - Bangers and mash - everyones favourite, though under the circumstances I am still amazed at how the caterers managed to pull it off so brilliantly. The barn dancing, although fantastic resulted in a few bruised shins as it would seem yours truely is not the most coordinated of dancers - bounce, kick, bounce, kick, ouch! When it was time for us to leave, all our guests joined in a dance which ended with them all pairing up and making a long arch which we then scooted through (regretably a little too quickly) as they all said goodbye and thanks for the knackered shins.
They say a picture tells a thousand words, so i will post a few photographs once I have some as I’m finding it difficult to write about the day. Theres just so much to tell but its the old case of where to start. Unfortunately theres very few photogaphs floating around at the minute and I’m simply itching to see more. In the mean time I am happy sitting here in my living room with my beautiful wife surrounded by lovely gifts from the kindest friends and family, dreaming of Vegas whilst eating wedding cake and trying not to get crumbs in my comfy pants.

Hey well done you two, Congratulations! I raised a glass from Devon. It was a glass of diet coke, but there you go.
Now that you are married, surely a workshop is in order?
All the best
