8 mile. No I don’t mean the film where that white chap who thinks hes black preaching about guns ‘n shit to a heavy disco beat but more my final last push to get a good time in this Sunday’s race. I hit the 10km mark at 50 mins which was ok and proved I was pacing myself well (my pb is 40m 53s which I achieved last summer) but the last mile was a killer as I became very hungry very quickly and as a result completed the 8 miles in 1h 5m with a knee thats starting to hurt again. I’m in two minds whether to take something to eat mid way round but am scared to experiment at this late stage. Asking around it seems everyone has their own opinion regarding food before (bananas) and during (fruit pastilles!?/energy gels) a race. It would seem that at the end of the day its your body that decides what can and can’t be taken during a race but I’m liking the Rowntree suggestion.

Two more days left at work before I’m off for 3 and a half weeks!
