As the wife starts her brand spanking new job next week, the husband thought it would be rather nice to treat her to a trip to London. Unfortunately the Queen wasn’t up to accepting visitors for afternoon tea so we had to make do with a brief encounter of three women who like to get drunk and laugh at dressed up sausages. After the escape we wondered into a nearby theatre where we were treated to a damn fine show by Stomp.

These guys are amazing to say the least. I remember seeing them rather alot on TV as Blue Peter used to wet themselves over these guys but like most things, its so much better seeing them live. The whole show is extremely clever and well put together using a variety of house hold rubbish to produce amazing music. The best bits for me were the broom and zippo pieces. Click here to hear a recording of the opening brooms. But the cutest thing of all is catching the wife drumming on the clothes horse when we got back.
After the show we ate and as it was dark followed it up with a stroll along the Thames. Its very rare these days that I get to see the city all lit up in the evening and as I discovered the Southbank is a different place after the sun goes down. We paused to watch the skaters in their usual place before discovering a Gorillaz exhibit on one of the terraces.

Its little hidden things like this that make London such an interesting place for me. Although its hard to decide which is the better out of the two, New York or London I think I’m going to have to go with our home grown city at present.
