The Great South 2007

Once again it was that time of year where one braves the weather and runs for their life as part of the Great South Run. A delayed start and lots of elbowing for the first mile resulted in me becoming really cold but soon found my pace afterwards. Sadly didn’t see my old running partner like last year when we were all lined up at the start line, however when things got moving this big booming voice from behind me at 3 miles confirmed he had found me and from then on we ran for the next couple of miles before he quickened the pace and left me.

Just like last year the weather was terrible and it was even windier on the home stretch as we suffered the battering wind for the last 2 miles. Everyone dreads this and no amount of hiding in a crowd can save you from the elements.

Completed it in 1h 20m 44s, the exact time I had on my watch as well as the official time my chip recorded too! I should have a photo or two to show you in a couple of days. 10 miles and £125 raised for charity - job done.

A big thank you to all who sponsored me, its what got me through the last couple of miles.
