Theres a birthday coming up and having just bought a bargain in the form of a folio packed full of canvases and paints from the place that sells those cheap sovereign rings, I decided to have a stab at painting again but starting small with a birthday card.

I reworked an old piece I did earlier in the year and its really hard learning to paint again after a break of nearly a year, its even harder to remember NOT to drink out of the water pot you use to rinse your brushes in!

The idea was to have a wash effect in the background to give the appearance of rain with the more detailed girl shining through but I discovered its hard to achieve that effect with acrylics, its probably better to use watercolours. Its getting there though, a bit more tidying up tomorrow evening and I’m there.
