The Making Of Another Great Christmas Present

Heres another present I made this Christmas which anyone can put together - a book containing a secret compartment. Just make sure that you don’t drink wine whilst doing so else the photos you’ll take will become increasingly blurry!

1. Pop down to your local second hand book store and pick up a book on spies.

2. Once you have finished reading it, get the pva glue out and start gluing all the pages together until they become one solid block of pages and glue. I’ve noticed that a few tutorials on the web at this point recommend a ration of 1 part water to 1 part glue, I say ignore this and just used the glue as it causes the pages to warp and take twice as long to dry.

3. Another reason not to drink whilst making this is because sharp instruments are involved. Once the glue has dried and you are happy that the pages are secure, start cutting away the secret compartment a few pages at a time until you are happy with the depth achieved.

4. Glue the compartment to make sure its secure.

5. A nice final touch I added was to line the secret compartment with felt. This really made it look a great deal neater.

6. Start hiding your secret stash of chocolates because if you have in-laws like mine such Christmas treats don’t last through to Boxing Day!
