This weekend we have been to see The Diary of Anne Frank being performed at Salisbury’s newest playhouse. I have often wondered how such a sensitive topic would be approached when it came to this sort of thing, but it was handled very well indeed. Although we all knew tragic situation they were in, there were many occasions when the mood was lifted which is just as well really as it would have been difficult to sit through a 2 hour play of nothing but sadness and depression.
I was also pleased with the way the play finished too as I have read the diary many times and it was never clear who actually was responsible for exposing them. The play however fills in these gaps and apart from that the play actually stays rather faithful to the book.
