Racing Bikes

Due to work constraints and the like, it seems like ages since I went out on a long run. As this evening is such a nice one I decided to plug into the Nike Plus and venture out, taking advantage of the good weather. As its been a while, I decided to do the old familiar Old Sarum route before heading out further following the river.

On hitting the 4.5 mile mark however, I found myself running through one of the villages out of town and found myself running alongside a family on bikes. The mother had one of those half-bike things attached found a child to ride on behind her. This child riding behind the mother was shouting words of encouragement to me as they ran on the road and I ran alongside on the opposite path.

You can do it, keep it up!” came the cries, until I shouted back “I’ll race you then“, which the child then faced forward and shouted to her mother doing all the hard work “You can do it, keep it up!“. The mother just looked at me as if to say thanks a lot mate and we raced for a short distance before I headed back.

Headed back is not the same as give up I would just like to add!
