I am writing this whilst huddled in the corner of a very empty and echoey room as we pack up and dismantle the very last of our things. This is the dreaded bit of the packing phase, picking up the dregs of your rubbish and its one I’m not enjoying much. Still everything else is in the new house and life is settling into some normality after a very exhausting week. Its all been worth it though as I am loving it out in the country, especially the diversity of wildlife one gets to witness. Once the house has been plumbed into the Matrix, ideas are hatching to set up a web cam or two to capture the goings on in the garden in a Spring Watch style fashion.
I am struggling however to get a decent mobile phone reception in the house as I’ve noticed that I’m greeted with texts which have been queuing up throughout the day dropping through on my phone as soon as I step out the front door but it could be worse I guess. I’m also wondering how the commute to work is going to pan out as I try and beat the system and park for free in the city. The traffic wardens here are very much like vultures, always watching and waiting but I’ve done my homework and have found free parking close to work, it all just a case of getting there before everyone else does. I’ve even taken the plunge and bought myself a folding bike to take with me and complete the last mile to work.
One good thing is apparent though living where we are and that is we are closer to a number of friends now who all decided to visit us at the same time yesterday. Luckily the weather improved to allow us to partake in cake and tea in the garden and to admire more vegetable donations which after popping down late last night to the 24 hour service station to get compost, have now become a valued addition to our instant vegetable patch we’ve been very kindly given.
