Yesterday was the annual village flower show here in Shrewton whereby an array of craft stalls and competitions ranging from painting and photography to vegetables and flower arranging were laid out for the visitors.

I don’t think I’ve seen so many people in one place in the village before but I think that was mainly down to the good weather and fine ice cream, it seemed like every villager was out. It wasn’t long before I sniffed out the classic tractor corner and soon struck up conversations with the local farmers who owned and maintained them. As my wife’s opening line went along the lines of “I like tractors me” which gave her the appearance of a tractor fan of some sort, they let her drive a couple round the field.

I was quite envious really but to be honest as I have trouble keep the Rocket on the straight and narrow, preventing a 1940’s tractor from ploughing into the screaming crowd of women and children may have proved a little difficult especially when there were blades whirring around on the back of the red one!
