Yesterday saw the village’s biggest event take place in the form of Shrewfest, our long awaited house warming. It was really nice to have all our friends in one place, especially seeing as though they were from different social groups and having them all together was a very rare thing indeed. Some very kindly brought a bit of food, some brought drink whilst a few bought a plant or two for our newly dug bed at the end of the garden. I think once it is all planted it will look very nice indeed.
I’ve never seen so many people in the garden at one time, 40 something and when playing the host you’re always worried about whether the guests are doing ok but I think everyone had a really great time eating a mountain of meat and devouring superb dessert.

Not only did our very kind neighbours help with the actual cooking of the mountains of food which we imported in from the local farm shop but towards the end of the evening when it got dark and cold, they sparked up their fire pit and we continued the drinking whilst toasting marshmellows over the flames into the early hours of the morning.
Then once we had no more wood to burn (we gave it a good effort though, even old tables and drawers went in the pit!) it was time for guests to pitch up and pass out at the top end of the estate.

A great time was had by all.
