Having A Jolly Good Explore

The drive down to Cornwall was a good one, stopping off at Castle Drogo for lunch. Drogo is a very modern castle and is a fun place to explore until you discover the room set aside as a memorial to the guy who built the place who was killed in the Great War - very sad. Pushing onwards to St.Ives, we found a campsite in the centre and setting up in the rain we explored this quaint little town.

My favourite place was one we visited yesterday, St. Michael’s Mount and as luck would have it we timed it just right with the tide to allow us to walk across to the island. This was yet another castle in dire need of exploring and it was great learning about its history.

Lands End was the next stop and found it seriously disappointing. It resembles something between the retail part of the Needles on the Isle of Wight and the cafe at the top of Snowdon. Are all tourist attractions heading this way? Retail outlets for the coach parties full of tourists hunting out a rainbow rubber.

However returning to St.Ives the day finished with a fine meal in a restaurant we last visited 5 years ago when we briefly past through the place once upon a time, and a ghost walk.

As we are fans of the film Blue Juice we knew it was filmed in Cornwall. Unfortunately a lack of an internet connection proved finding out exactly where challenging. A quick text though to 63336 soon provided us with the answers and off went to Kynance Cove having visited other locations in St Ives. This place was really pretty and blew away the cobwebs before heading off to friends in Totnes.

And thats where I am now, hatching plans to ride the steam train here which seems to be the tradition on or around my birthdays.
