Gearing Up For Etsy

For over two months now Etsy ideas have been brewing and have now slowly been taking shape - like these ones here. Its taken a great deal of time interacting and learning with the rest of the Etsy community to get the confidence to do something like this and as I’m not the most patient of people, the time taken to get this far has been a little frustrating.

Never the less its nearly there and the best news of all is I’ll be teaming up with another creative friend of mine who makes button jewelry. Inspired by her work, I gave some buttons a new lease of life and tried my hand at making some too and soon discovered it trickier than first thought - I used tiger wire mostly and found it a real pain to thread with. The good thing is about working with buttons however is that whatever you make can easily be disassembled allowing you to start again and after many attempts, I think I finally got the hang of it. So much so that my latest creations will be joining my paintings and badges in the shop. Unfortunately I only have a photograph of my very first attempt.

This morning was devoted to putting together some packaging prototypes. The idea I was working on was along the lines of ‘its exactly what it says on the tin’, so all button products will be simply labeled Button and badges just plain old Badges. It was a lot of fun inking up the rubber printing blocks.

We’re wanting to really go all out with the personal touch and included with every purchase will be nicely designed Thank You cards as well as hand decorated envelops. The designs of which will be voted on next week.

Unfortunately my hand made light box never survived the move to the country so I’m having to build a new one in time for the planned photoshoot next weekend.

Its finally taking shape and I’m once again excited about being creative.
