QR Barcodes

QR barcodes are basically two dimensional barcodes designed to store a greater amount of information than the more common barcode you see on food items etc. You may recognise them already as these barcodes are starting to appear in various places like drinks bottles and are used as a fun means to relay information to you. Its really popular in other countries in Japan and as more and more mobile phones are able to decode them, I’m guessing it won’t be long before us Brits start seeing them everywhere too.

If you have the means, scan this one below:

I have been working on a Wordpress hack on and off for a few months now whereby a coordinate is entered into the title of a new post and with a bit of sql magic it gets plotted on a Google Map along with the main content of the post. I’m thinking of practical uses for it currently with the current chain of thought involving the tracking of objects, objects which could contain one of these barcodes which could be used to scan the information into the Wordpress dashboard quickly and with a minimum of fuss.
