The Winslow Boy

This Vantenitines weekend saw us visiting the theatre. It seems so long since we last sat amongst Salisbury’s blue rinsed upper class to watch a play (over a year it would appear, the last one being this one). Tickets were bought last week for The Winslow Boy which I wasn’t familiar with but after a quick scout around the web, read some really good reviews.

The play itself is set a few years before the events of the Great War and is based around a father’s battle to clear his sons name after hes accused of stealing a postal order. It also reminds us of how polite and proper we once were back then and how one was more than willing to fight for King and country without a moments hesitation whilst believing it would all be all over by Christmas. Although a little on the long side, I really enjoyed watching it and was a great alternative to venturing out on Valentine’s weekend to sit with all the other couples in restaurants displaying forced affection.

    Forced affection? I’m telling!
