Photosynth

A couple of days ago I came across a really interesting site by the name of Photosynth. It allows you to build 3d panaramas from your 2d photographs and if done properly with a little bit of though, the effects are amazing. It would appear the trick is to snap away on your camera as much as possible, getting lots of shots from different angles. All you have to do then is load then up and Photosynth does the rest.

I have to admit its taken me a couple of attempts to get the principle of the thing but my first proper “Synth” is of my very untidy workshop. You can view it as well as interact with it by clicking here.

Every synth produce gets loaded up to the site for everyone to see. Go and have a browse at what other people have produced. There are some very clever people out there.

I had a go with this when the beta was first released but found it to be pretty buggy and slow…that’s not like Microsoft software I hear you say!!

Might give it another try at some point.
