I am having an increasing problem with cars at the moment when out running.
During the winter months, it got particularly difficult due to the light fading before I even made it home after work and also the increase in the volume of cars using my village as a cut through. Its very much like running the gauntlet despite taking my time and lit up like a Christmas tree, cars just don’t want to give you room when they over take. Thats not the case for all though, there are a couple of considerate people out there who, when giving me a wide berth get a wave of appreciation - the ones who insist on nudging me into the hedge get another hand gesture.
I remember one occassion at the start of the year when a 4×4 failed to give way whilst I was running. Stopping in the middle of the road and watching the idiot drive away I made my feelings clear only to see the break lights being applied and Mr Idiot putting his small willy compensator into reverse. Well that was it for me, I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast in all my life. I now drive into the village before starting my run to avoid instances like this.
Now that its light, one would think cars would be able to see me a lot earlier but after the last couple of weeks of running out of the village, it would appear not. So it looks like its back to playing that old game of Frogger again.
