A month ago I found a really nice second hand find in the form of The Guerilla Art Kit by Keri Smith. This is such a thought provoking book as it lists many wonderful art projects designed to get your creativity out into the community whilst giving you confidence and encouragement to do so. I also love the fact that you can pick this book up, turn to any page and be instantly inspired.

I decided to pick another one of her books to keep me occupied during the paternity leave (which sadly ends in a couple of days), this time picking her How To Be An Explorer Of The World: Portable Life Museum from the many on offer. This is an even better book than the one previous as it sets out methods and exercises aimed at helping you to observe, collect, document and analyse the world around us training us to pay close attention to details which usually get over looked.

Both books together work out to be a killer combination as I am now once again encouraged to keep up the Moleskine journal now that I’m overflowing with new and unique methods of documenting life. Some exercises may even creep into the zine too. For my birthday the other day I received some really beautiful notebooks and journals which will keep me going for a while. One which I plan to use to document the life and times of one young engineer, Master C T Whitworth.
