Its funny what decides to surface when you least expect it. I have just found a collection of cassette tapes which I have not seen in many many years but I have always carried them with me.
I remember on many occassion taking up residence in the local Charcoal Grill after a night out with school mates, all listening to walkmans whilst sat round the plastic tables - not the most sociable of set ups looking back. I also remember handing mine round to complete strangers, as I was very stuck in my ways back then, there is a good change that this tape has been listened to by many drunk and hungry strangers 14 years ago. Its kind of a cool thought don’t you think.
Ever since I can remember I have had huge enjoyment playing around with old cassette recorders as a kid, I can even remember getting my first new one - a Philips Rolling Sound. With everything moving to mp3 its sad that kids won’t share the same experiences with music as I and all the other kids did back then. I’m going to make sure Charlie does no matter how ‘uncool’ it appears to him but I hope he’ll have the same appreciation for old tech as his father.
Sadly I’m not going to tell you whats on my old tape, thats ones just for me. Sorry.
