It was our friend Nic’s birthday this week (she has an angry bog here but shes not angry all the time) and I wanted to set myself the task of making her a homemade present. Since acquiring my sewing machine my confidence with it has grown considerably and so I decided to make her a bag. I bought enough fabric from the local fabric shop to cover me if I made a mistake and had to start over again and thats exactly what happened. The second attempt was lined a great deal better than the first and I was really happy with it.

I did (and still do) hate sewing the handles on, they’re such a pain. I am getting better and quicker at them though. I like the size of the bag, ideal for the beach and if pockets were added on the inside, it would make a great baby changing bag. Another idea to add to the growing pile perhaps?

To accompany the bag, a rather clever card was discovered in one of the shops in town. The front of it contained a section of watercolour paper for you to put your own design on it - what a great idea. As they are all fans of Wall-E I had no trouble in deciding what to draw.

And a very fabulous bag it was too, although Mia has claimed the card as her own. Thank you very much!
